Welcome!

Hi, Eric here.  I don't watch many TV shows, and those I do are often cartoons - SpongeBob, The Fairly OddParents, Courage the Cowardly Dog are among my favorites.

But my very favorite is one that is not strictly for kids.  In fact, it has some occasional minor cursing and other thematic elements.  And the movie - is it ever not for kids!

But for mostly any viewer aged 8+, The Simpsons is often uproariously funny, original, and quite influential in the formation of modern cartoons.

This family of yellow-skinned Caucasians was introduced on Easter Sunday 1987, in sketches on The Tracy Ullman Show.  They got their own show in late 1989, and have entertained us for…decades?  Sadly, unlike some shows, The Simpsons seemed to regress as it stayed on longer - similar, I think, to Jerry Lewis.

Never mind that.

In the theme music, Danny Elfman, a longtime partner in crime of Tim Burton's, gets to show just how much talent for mischief he truly has.  And that's just the beginning.

See also my blog post relating to The Simpsons on my other blog, A Christmas to Remember: achristmastoremember.blogspot.com.  Actually, it was re-watching episodes on the Christmas DVD, for purposes of the movie that the blog is about, that inspired me to do a serious undertaking: ranking all episodes of this glorious show in order of quality.

Wish me luck - and let the followers pour in!
